Clarksville Enhances Pedestrian Safety with Near Completion of New Sidewalks on Peachers Mill Road

Clarksville residents are about to enjoy safer and more convenient walking options as new sidewalks near completion along Peachers Mill Road. According to Clarksville’s Civic Alerts, the Street Department is quickly approaching the full completion of this project, aiming to enhance the pedestrian experience in an area known for its growth and family-friendly spaces.

Efforts currently focus on finishing a section of sidewalk behind a guardrail which includes a 5-feet-wide pathway, complete with a retaining wall and handrail. Despite the challenges, contractors have worked to diligently make sure this segment is ready before moving on to the final portion that will extend from New Providence Boulevard to Providence Pointe. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, in a sentiment laced with personal history, has expressed particular satisfaction over this development. “This project is particularly satisfying to me, since it is happening where I grew up and walked to school every day at Byrns Darden,” Mayor Pitts told Clarksville’s Civic Alerts.

As of the beginning of November, about 6,000 feet of the planned 6,500-feet-long sidewalk, situated on the west side of Peachers Mill Road, are completed.
