Tars Take Fourth at SAISA Top 9 Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 27, 2024) – The Rollins sailing team hit the road up to Jacksonville University for another weekend of competition. This time, the women’s team got the opportunity to showcase themselves against some of the SAISA conference’s best.

B division skipper Shay Bridge and All-SAISA crew Jane McKenzie put on another fantastic scoreline leading the Tars with a consistent fifth-place finish while accumulating 80 of the Tars’ 213 final points. The A division team comprised of sophomore skipper Julia Scott and freshman crew Isabel Brenner did their part for the Tars, plugging away consistent starts despite struggling with how to properly manage both the venue’s challenging current and fickle winds.

“The team came together collectively with great communication and teamwork,” Head Coach Esteban Forrer said. “Moreover, the ladies made a concerted effort to apply starting techniques that have been programed within the practice curriculum which ultimately put them in great positions up the first beats to control and manage the fleet. Despite the adverse conditions often raced on the St. John’s River the team has continued to approach each race and regatta with a strong process orientation.”…
