While waiting in a drive-through line for coffee the other day, I pulled up to the window only to be told that my order had been paid for by the car in front of me. This was my first experience of someone “paying it forward,” and I was overwhelmed and in tears with gratitude, as it is a tough time for me right now.
This simple gesture affirmed my faith in the innate goodness of others. The person who paid for my coffee was already gone, but if they are reading this, I want to thank them with all my heart, tell them it meant the world to me, and promise to “pay it forward” to others in the future. May the spirit of giving prevail in all our hearts. So many are in need of one simple act of kindness.
