Davenport men face felony charges after theft of cigarettes, snacks, alcohol

Two Davenport men were in custody Wednesday night after police say they threw a rock through a convenience store door to steal cigarettes, snacks and alcohol, according to court documents.

Both Blake Blanchard, 18, and Javier Cooley, 20, face felony charges of second-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, court records say.

At 2:22 a.m. Wednesday, Davenport Police responded to a glass-break alarm at The Gas Spot, 201 W. 53rd St. Three people were observed on surveillance video “throwing a landscaping rock through the glass door on the front of the above business,” arrest affidavits say.

They entered the store with multiple bags, selecting various merchandise including packs of cigarettes, snacks, and some alcoholic beverages, according to affidavits…
