Two local high school students have been accepted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Student Advisory Committee. Dominik Garcia, from Denison-Schleswig Community School District (CSD), and Landon Sporrer, from East Sac County, are two of 16 students selected from school nominations. The committee was launched in 2021 to assist the IHSAA in its efforts to promote leadership, sportsmanship, and integrity by providing a student voice to experiences and ideas for programs through the organization. Last week, these students attended their fall meeting, participating in activities, discussions, and initiatives. Topics of discussion included education and communication programs, the role of the committee, student perspective on current IHSAA topics, and goal setting for the school year.
