Fresno State resurges before OT collapse in 77-66 OT loss to Nevada

The Fresno State Bulldogs got two key players back from injury, jumped out to a big lead, and delivered a thrilling buzzer-beater 3-pointer to force overtime. But the effort crumbled in the extra five minutes as the ‘Dogs fell 77-66 to the visiting Nevada Wolf Pack.

Fresno State led by as many as 12 points in the first half but spent most of the final eight minutes playing from behind. With eight seconds left and trailing 64-61, David Douglas Jr. dribbled downcourt and launched a 3-pointer – it was air-balled but corralled by Alex Crawford who got to the 3-point line and swished a second-chance 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded.

Crawford recalled of the shot in front of an announced crowd of 5,231, “I knew we had about five seconds, maybe less. I know I had to get it up … I saw an opening and just took the shot, had confidence I was gonna make it. It felt good leaving my hands.”…
