Record high temperatures across parts of New Mexico Thursday

After a record warm day, a cold front will bring in slightly cooler air Friday. Another warmup this weekend will bring more record heat Sunday and Monday.

Record warm temperatures have returned to places like Albuquerque, Roswell, Carlsbad, and Truth or Consequences Thursday afternoon. A few more places may still break record high temperatures before the day is over. The good news is, a backdoor cold front will move into New Mexico overnight. It may bring a slightly breezy east wind into the Albuquerque Metro and Rio Grande Valley early Friday morning, with gusts no higher than 30 mph. The front will leave temperatures as much as 5° to 15° cooler Friday afternoon, with the biggest drop in temperatures across the eastern half of the state.
