Lancaster County businesses providing relief for homeless community during ‘Code Blue’

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Ahead of Monday’s snowstorm, Lancaster County issued a Code Blue in hopes of keeping homeless people off the streets during the inclement weather.

“What a code blue means is that the providers are asked to extend their emergency shelter beds, their hours of the services as well as their lobbies so that individuals can come out and come in during the day and stay out of the elements,” said Lancaster Director of Human Services Deb Jones.

Two organizations in Lancaster are teaming up to help people in need. Anchor Lancaster and Tenfold are coming together to create a homeless shelter that would otherwise not be possible…
