NORTH EAST — A back-and-forth opening two sets between Fallston and North East in Wednesday’s 2A East Quarterfinal ultimately ended in both teams tied at one going into the third set.
North East opened the third set on a 9-4 run, before Fallston called a timeout that shifted the momentum the rest of the way. Fallston came out of the timeout strong, going on a 10-4 run to take the lead. The Cougars outscored the Indians 11-5 the rest of the way to take the third set 25-18.
Fallston’s momentum continued with a 12-4 run to begin the fourth set. Despite North East cutting the deficit to as low as five, Fallston’s offense took control the rest of the way with multiple aces and kills en route to a 25-11 win in the fourth set to secure the victory…
