A reputation for fairness: Montgomery County judge retiring after more than 2 decades on bench

NORRISTOWN — With a reputation for fairness and admired among his colleagues for his gentlemanly manner, humanity, “street smarts and a work ethic second to none,” Montgomery County Judge Thomas P. Rogers is retiring after 21 years on the bench.

Rogers, 73, who grew up in Plymouth Township and whose career as a dedicated public servant included stints as a detective and chief of police in Lower Providence Township and later as a defense lawyer before becoming judge, reflected on his professional journey as he packed up his courthouse office.

“I hope people saw me as a hardworking and fair judge, patient and with the proper temperament for the job. Temperament is very important in this job,” Rogers said during an interview in his chambers…
