When we attended the 2024 Country Cares Convention in Memphis, TN this past October, I had the opportunity to visit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital campus. It was my second time touring, but I made sure to visit my favorite spot, the Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden.

I had wandered away from my group a little bit (don’t tell anyone!) which meant I was the only person there to take in the flowers, trees, waterfalls, etc. The whole gambit of emotions washed over me. Sadness, of course, but also hope and peace as I watched a bird fly off from its perch on the St. Jude statue…
