Police respond to apparent copper wire theft at cell tower in South City

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a South City cell tower to a larceny report overnight Tuesday.

First Alert 4 crews saw police at the cell tower off I-55 and South Grand in the Loughborough neighborhood around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Officers were investigating the tower located in the Lowe’s Home Improvement parking lot.

While police on scene did not provide much information, a witness called First Alert 4 claiming that an officer told them the thief/thieves caused about $50,000 worth of damage for about $200 worth of copper wire…
