Oklahoma availability report: The latest on Deion Burks ahead of South Carolina game

Friday’s availability report brought mixed news for Oklahoma ahead of its homecoming game against South Carolina this weekend.

The SEC’s latest availability report for Saturday’s 11:45 a.m. tilt between the Sooners and Gamecocks was published Friday evening, with OU wide receiver Deion Burks still listed as questionable. Burks had been listed as questionable on each of the week’s first two availability reports Wednesday and Thursday evening, as he has continued to work his way back from what has been described as a soft-tissue injury that he sustained during the SEC opener against Tennessee on Sept. 21.

Burks has not seen the field since that injury, missing the last two games against Auburn and Texas. Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said Tuesday that Burks was at 80% of his maximum capacity during practice a day earlier, adding that the Sooners’ leading receiver was attempting to “defy all odds” to be available for this weekend’s game against the Gamecocks, which will mark the first-ever matchup between OU and South Carolina…
