Sons look to continue father’s legacy at historic jewelry store in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – King’s Jewelers has a lasting family legacy, being a piece of the Midlands for the last 78 years. Nathan Picow started King’s Jewelers on June 6, 1946, at just 21 years old after losing both his parents.

Picows passion was to provide quality jewelry at discounted prices. In the late 1900’s the Picow family had 3 stores in the Midlands. Now, one store is left, on the 1600 block of Main Street in downtown Columbia.

To many, Picow was known as Mr. King. To his two sons, he was dad, and to his grandchildren he was Poppi…
