As you’re driving to visit family this holiday season, you may notice a car pass with a little red barn on its license plate. In addition to its appealing design, that tag means a lot to many across our state. The Tennessee Ag Tag is a symbol of support for the future of rural Tennessee and agriculture.

Since 1996, almost 20,000 Ag Tags have been sold, and more than $9.1 million has been collected from the sales. One costs $35 more than your typical state tag, and the proceeds go directly to support 4-H, FFA, Ag in the Classroom and Tennessee Governors School for Agricultural Sciences. Other noble ventures like agriculture and forestry awareness, education and marketing efforts, and farmers markets benefit from the funds, all collected through the Tennessee Agriculture Development Fund.

If you are interested in supporting agriculture and adding a bit of bling to your bumper, get your Tennessee Ag Tag the next time you renew your plates. Visit your county clerk’s office to purchase one and keep Tennessee agriculture on the road…
