The Columbus Board of Realtors welcomed elected officials at its annual Legislative Breakfast

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Wednesday morning, the Columbus Board of Realtors hosted its annual Legislative Breakfast in aiming to open communication lines between political officials and the real estate community.

“Homeownership is a good thing,” said Georgia State Representative, Dale Washburn. “Most first-time home buyers can’t afford homes at the prices at which they currently are. Property taxes are outdated, the system’s outdated and it’s unfair. The idea is – no one’s trying to force this on you from the state, but we’re trying to present the ideas to local government.”

Elected officials from surrounding areas and local realtors met at the Green Island Country Club in Columbus. In sharing concerns on the housing market, property rights, and local developments, the event created conversation on the challenges and opportunities within the community.
