Ohio man arrested after claiming there was a hostage situation outside the State Patrol’s Post; Police say the vehicle in question was the man’s own vehicle

A man was taken into custody after authorities say he made a false report of a hostage situation to troopers at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Circleville post-Saturday morning.

Law enforcement from several agencies, including the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, South Bloomfield Police Department, Harrison Township Fire Department and Columbus Division of Fire, responded to the OSHP post on U.S. Route 23 near Ashville just after 11:30 a.m.

A release from OSHP says a suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jeffrey Corby, approached a trooper at the post and reported an alleged hostage situation. Corby claimed that a person was being held at gunpoint inside a vehicle parked outside of the post, according to troopers…
