After four-plus months of teams battling it out for the right to prove themselves worthy of being in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, the season is set to come to a close on Monday, Jan. 20, when the No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes and the No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off in the national championship in Atlanta.
While these two teams have certainly had their fair share of hiccups throughout the season, like when Notre Dame was upset by Northern Illinois, and when the Buckeyes laid an egg against Michigan in the final week of the regular season, they’ve executed down the stretch and when it matters most, which is why they are the last two teams standing in the sport.
