Attempted robbery, shooting uncovers secret underground casino in Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An attempted robbery and shooting led to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police recently dismantling an underground gambling operation.

The illegal operation was uncovered in the area of 2501 West Boulevard following a shooting incident on March 4, 2025, which led CMPD to investigate further.

According to CMPD, area officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of the business. Upon arrival, officers found that the victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was the manager of an illegal arcade at the location.

Authorities said the victim had reportedly been arriving to open the business when an attempted robbery led to the shooting. As part of the investigation, officers reached out to CMPD’s Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Unit, which launched an inquiry into the business’s activities…
