CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is installing more than two dozen license plate reading cameras to reduce serious crime in the area.
Flock Safety cameras send real-time alerts to law enforcement when a stolen vehicle or known wanted suspect from a state or national database is detected. They’re also used to send alerts on active Amber and Silver alerts.
Lincoln County will join the city of Gastonia and Union County as Charlotte-area municipalities that use these cameras. Gastonia added the cameras last year, while Union County’s had them since at least 2022.
