Looking Back: With claims of success, the NH militia leaves Indian Stream

THE YEAR 1835 ended with the settlement of Indian Stream under occupation by a company of the 24th Regiment of the N.H. militia. Capt. James Mooney of Stewartstown, which bordered Indian Stream, commanded the 50-man unit. Some of the officers and privates serving under him were also from Stewartstown, and the remainder lived in the northern New Hampshire towns of Lancaster, Dalton, Whitefield, Stark, Stratford, Colebrook, Columbia, Northumberland, Jefferson and Whitefield.
