New study reveals helmet laws could’ve prevented 22,000 motorcycle deaths

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is calling for stricter motorcycle helmet laws.

The nonprofit organization estimates that more than 22,000 motorcyclists could have survived from 1976 to 2022 if every state required riders to wear helmets, accounting for 11% of all motorcycle-related fatalities.
