Happy National Dog Day! What to know about the day dedicated to our canine companions
Clear the Shelters is a nationwide monthlong campaign put together every year by NBCUniversal in collaboration with local stations like KETK in order to help pets who need it most.
This year, KETK partnered with shelters from across East Texas in order to educate the public about supporting them through donations, volunteering, fostering and adopting. 480 pets were adopted here in East Texas and the nationwide campaign set a record for adoptions with 168,832 pets adopted from over 1,620 shelters across the country.
“It’s a privilege to once again to share the amazing results and impact of another record-breaking and milestone-setting effort to help pets find new homes and support the tremendous shelters that care for them when they’re most vulnerable,” said Meredith McGinn with NBCUniversal Local.
From Aug. 10 through Sept. 10 of this year East Texans dropped off pounds and pounds of all different kinds of supplies for KETK’s annual pet supply drive .
