Huntsville’s game-tying field goal attempt clanked off the left post, and the Port Neches-Groves football team stayed perfect this season with another dramatic victory, 24-21 on Friday night at Hornet Stadium.
The missed field goal on the game’s final play culminated a back-and-forth effort from both teams in a highly-anticipated district matchup. Port Neches-Groves trailed briefly in the fourth quarter, getting all it could handle from a Huntsville team ranked in the top 10 of Class 5A-II.
PN-G’s go-ahead touchdown came on a clutch drive late in the final minutes. Blair Chatagnier found the end zone on a 10-yard run, giving PN-G the 24-21 lead with less than 3 minutes to play. …
