AUSTIN (KAMR/KCIT) — Today, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) announced that it along with its state partners have began mobilizing state emergency response resources for winter weather expected to last through mid way next week.
“TDEM and our state agency partners are prepared for upcoming winter weather impacts and Texans are urged to take personal preparedness measures ahead of time,” said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. “I urge all Texans to stay informed, take proactive measures to protect their families, and follow guidance from local authorities as this winter weather event approaches.”
Local, state officials prepare for winter weather event
According to the National Weather Service, a powerful winter storm is expected to bring snow and icy conditions to portions of South, Central, and Southeast Texas. The storm is expected to bring freezing as well as below-freezing temperatures across large areas of Texas.
TDEM detailed that it has, “increased the readiness level of the Texas State Emergency Operations Center to Level II Escalated Response at 7:00 a.m. Monday to support requests for state assistance from local officials and ensure Texas communities have the resources they need to respond to winter weather impacts.”…
