City of Myrtle Beach enhances bike safety with new green lanes

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Bicycle lanes in the city of Myrtle Beach have now been painted green by the South Carolina Department of Transportation, a Myrtle Beach City Government Facebook post said.

The lanes were painted green on the side of the road along Mr. Joe White Avenue to make them more obvious to motorists and cyclists, the post said. They also have directional markers to let cyclists know which way they should be traveling.

The post explained that the project came after SCDOT public input meetings held at the end of 2024 and that the lanes are in areas where conflict or accidents have been heavily reported.
