WHERE THE IDEA CAME FROM
Most scholars believed the idea of Halloween, started roughly 2000 years ago in what is now Ireland from the ancient Celtic Festival known as Samhain. The festival was the mark that Summer and harvest season is over and it will be the start of the new year. The Celtics believed the night before the new year, boundary between worlds of the living and the dead were blurred in which ghosts would roam the Earth and cause trouble and damage crops. The Celtic would light bonfires, carve jack’o lanterns out of turnips and dress up in costumes to scare off the ghosts.
