Killeen veteran joined military to escape small-town life in Pineville, South Carolina

KILLEEN – Retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Terry Mustapher grew up in Pineville, South Carolina, a community so small he had to travel to nearby St. Stephen to go to school. By the time he got to high school, Mustapher knew he wanted more out of life than the area had to offer, and he decided military service was the ticket to more opportunity.
