KILLEEN – Retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Terry Mustapher grew up in Pineville, South Carolina, a community so small he had to travel to nearby St. Stephen to go to school. By the time he got to high school, Mustapher knew he wanted more out of life than the area had to offer, and he decided military service was the ticket to more opportunity.
“I lived out in the country, and I had two options: stay at home and get a factory job or go work in the fields,” the Killeen resident said. “I was born in the county hospital, but I lived in Pineville and I graduated high school in St. Stephen in 1990…
