Mortuary likely to open following the Killeen City Council approving a zoning change

A new mortuary will likely open in Killeen following the City Council approving a rezoning request at Tuesday’s meeting. The ordinance to rezone a property at 1005 N. 10th St. was approved by a vote of 5 to 1. Councilman Michael Boyd dissented, while Councilman Joseph Solomon abstained from voting on the ordinance.

The request was submitted by the Jim Wright Company on behalf of Codra Rentals. The plan is to use the building as a place to prepare bodies ahead of funerals, but not as a funeral chapel itself…
