‘We need to try and find a cure’: Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick pushes to pass historic levels of dementia research funding

AUSTIN, Texas — The 89th session of the Texas legislature gaveled in Tuesday. State lawmakers in Austin have a lot of new priorities to tackle. One of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s top items is giving new hope to families facing dementia.

Patrick sat down with KHOU 11 News for an exclusive interview as a new legislative session began.

“This is the time for Texas to lead,” Patrick said. “I don’t think I’ve ever launched an initiative that’s gotten so much response.”…
