Corpus Christi architect earns national recognition

To mark the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month in October, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently honored the work and contributions of Hispanic architects to the field, including Corpus Christi architect Connie Rivera.

Rivera currently serves as a managing principal with Texas-based firm Pfluger Architects, where her current work revolves around the long-range planning and design of educational facilities. Current projects include work with Beeville ISD, Flour Bluff ISD, Gregory-Portland ISD and Odem Edroy ISD as well the firm’s own offices which are moving into Downtown Corpus Christi.

She earned the recognition from the AIA based largely on her efforts for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, which the AIA said includes serving on the Texas Society of Architects (TxA) Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Taskforce, taking and developing directives and targets to expand inclusion and mobilizing leaders from around the state to meet those targets.
