Mother Arrested After Infant Dies in Hot Car at Corpus Christi School

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 22-month-old infant died after being left in a vehicle at Tom Browne Middle School, leading to the arrest of the child’s mother.

On August 20, 2024, at approximately 1:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to 4301 Schanen Boulevard following reports of an infant left in a vehicle, according to a press release from the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD). Upon arrival, CCPD and Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) personnel found the school nurse administering CPR to the child.

The 22-month-old was transported to a local hospital by CCFD, where they were later pronounced deceased. CCPD Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the incident. It remains unclear how long the infant was in the vehicle, and the investigation is ongoing…
