FRISCO, Texas – The reigning, two-time Southland Conference Champion Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team picked up its third Southland Conference weekly award as Kyra McKelvey took home the first of her career as she was named the SLC’s Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
McKelvey, a sophomore opposite from Navarre, Fla., earned the honor following a career day which put Southeastern (20-4, 12-0 SLC) in the driver’s seat for the SLC’s regular season championship. In Saturday’s season series-clinching win over Stephen F. Austin, McKelvey set a new career high with 21 kills on just 29 attacks with a .655 attack percentage.
