What does it take for Maryland jurisdictions to dig themselves out of a snowstorm? As the Maryland received inches of snow Monday, Baltimore City and surrounding counties activated hundreds of employees to plow along with a number of other resources.
The office of Mayor Brandon Scott, who declared a state of emergency in Baltimore to respond to the storm, said crews were fully deployed to treat roadways continuing into Monday afternoon, “with over 250 DOT snow vehicles/equipment currently deployed and over 400 additional contractor vehicles in rotation.”
Four city-owned garages have been made available to residents of some downtown neighborhoods to park for free. Residents of Federal Hill, Fells Point, Harbor East, Perkins Homes and Little Italy will have to show proof of residence for first-come, first-serve access to the Little Italy, West Street, Caroline Street or Fleet and Eden Street garages through Tuesday morning…
