MORRISTOWN — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Morristown, Tenn., has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of East Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and southwest North Carolina, highlighting a series of winter weather impacts over the coming days.
Snow Showers and Accumulations
Scattered snow showers are expected today, particularly in the mountains of Virginia, northeast Tennessee, and the Smoky Mountains. Elevations above 2,500 to 3,000 feet could see light snowfall accumulation, with mountain peaks potentially receiving up to 3 inches of snow. Gusty winds reaching 35 mph in higher elevations will push wind chill temperatures into the teens during the day and down to single digits or slightly below zero overnight.
