CROWN POINT — A 20-year-old who fatally struck a Lake Station man with her car and attempted to flee Northwest Indiana was sentenced to work release and probation Wednesday, Lake Criminal Court records show.
Robelis Soto-Echevarria, of Gary, will serve four years in Lake County Community Corrections’ work release program followed by two years on probation, according to online court records. She pleaded guilty Nov. 14 to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in catastrophic injury to another person, a level four felony. Level four felonies carry a possible sentence of between two to 12 years in prison.
According to Soto-Echevarria’s plea agreement, she faced maximum cap of eight years in prison. She is also ordered to pay $7,541 in restitution to Lake County Criminal Courts…
