BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) – It’s a bittersweet day for Dodge Lanes Bowling Alley as Belvidere city council approves a plan to redevelop the site.
Harry and Jayne Speckman ran Dodge Lanes at 1940 N. State St. for 30 years. Harry tells WIFR that while it is time to close their doors, they haven’t forgotten the decades of support.
Developer MH Bradley plans to demolish the bowling alley into a 3-lot property, which will include a Chipotle and a Starbucks. A third business has not been announced.
