Police: Somerset County man dead in accidental shooting

Dec. 9—SOMERSET, Pa. — A Rockwood man died Saturday when he was the victim of an accidental shooting that took place as he was preparing to go hunting, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Richard Cane, 67, died in the incident that took place about 2:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Barron Church Road in Middlecreek Township, police said.

Police said the incident was ruled as an accidental death after state police determined the victim suffered a gunshot wound from a handgun “while preparing to go hunting.”…
