Baltimore (WBFF) — A Fox45 News investigation has found Baltimore City Public Schools received millions of tax dollars to educate hundreds of students who were absent for nearly the entire school year.
Now, calls are being renewed to change how Maryland funds public schools.
In Maryland, public schools receive funding based on the number of students enrolled on just one day, September 30. For the past three years, Del. April Rose (R-Carroll County), has introduced legislation to require schools to count enrollment four times a year. Funding would then be based on the average of the four counts.
