Apalachee takes on Jackson County at home on Friday as community continues to heal

Apalachee takes the field on Friday night against Jackson County for a home game that isn’t a typical kickoff to the October rush of Georgia high school football.

It’ll mark the first time the Wildcats step onto the field at R. Harold Harrison Stadium since the tragic shooting on September 4 that left two students and two teachers dead, including Richard Aspinwall, who served as the team’s defensive coordinator.

The Wildcats returned to football competition last Saturday with a road test against Clarke Central (Athens, Ga.), taking another monumental step for a community and school—having only been reopened a week—that’s still healing from the devastating events…
