KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The founders of a supposed marketing company that was revealed to be an illegal pyramid scheme that swindled $23.5 million from members have been sentenced to prison.
The U.S. Department of Justice has announced that Alex Dee, 50, of Fate, Texas, Brian Kaplan, 53, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Jerrold Mauer, 58, of North Bellmore, New York, have been sentenced in connection to their roles in an illegal pyramid scheme.
Justice officials noted that Dee has been sentenced to 3 years in prison and ordered to pay a $1.8 million forfeiture. Kaplan has been sentenced to 1 year and 10 months in prison and ordered to pay a $2.8 million forfeiture.
