AT&T strike ends with contract agreement, local workers returning to jobs

BATON ROUGE — After 30 days, the strike by AT&T workers in Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 3 has ended with a tentative contract agreement. The CWA members returned to work on Monday.

CWA District 3 represents workers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The strike, which began in August, was called after the union accused AT&T of not bargaining in good faith and failing to send representatives authorized to make decisions.

Local AT&T workers and supporters continued to protest over the weekend, standing with signs in the Denham Springs Antique Village on Friday, Sept. 13. Many drivers honked in support of the workers, responding to signs that read, “Honk if you support workers.”…
