Seabrook teachers declare ‘no confidence’ in School Board: ‘We can’t do this anymore’

SEABROOK — Teachers say they have “no confidence” in the current School Board’s ability to fulfill its duties on behalf of students and staff, stating they leave meetings feeling “sad, frustrated, and embarrassed” by the board’s actions.

“While the board claims to value teachers, their words and actions offer strong evidence to the contrary,” stated Seabrook Elementary/Middle School behavior specialist Angie Butzer, who read an official statement on behalf of teachers. “Our School Board has created an adversarial and contentious atmosphere that interferes with the function of our school community.”

The teachers delivered their no-confidence statement during Wednesday’s SAU 21 Joint Board meeting. While they had hoped to read it at the Nov. 12 Seabrook School Board meeting, the meeting was abruptly canceled and later rescheduled as an emergency nonpublic meeting…
