Baldwin County road, bridge conditions improve with another cold night ahead

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — It was a slush fest on roads around Baldwin County Wednesday, but a full day of sunshine and heavy equipment did help open things up a bit.

“It is really sloppy. Some places are still iced over fairly good,” Jeremy White said as he traveled to Gulf Shores to check on his business.

Twenty-four hours after conditions forced the closure of the Holmes Bridge on Highway 59 in and out of Gulf Shores, one northbound and one southbound lane re-opened.

Conditions on the Expressway Bridge in Orange Beach were much better than during the height of the storm. Still, city leaders are watching as ice is expected to be an issue overnight.
