Slight severe chance before fall arrives

For the final day of summer, the weather will remain summer-like. Temperatures will be in the low 80s and dewpoints will be up making it feel humid. As a cold front arrives from the west that cooler air will interact with that warm moist air, creating showers and thunderstorms and some could be on the strong to severe side especially in the afternoon and evening.

Main threats would be heavy rain, strong winds (up to 60 mph) and hail up to the size of quarters. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of southeast Minnesota and north Iowa into a marginal (level 1) risk for severe weather…
