New mobile health clinic from Wright State Boonshoft, Premier Health to launch soon

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — What started as a meeting between three Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine faculty members turned into something bigger when they identified a growing need in Dayton when it comes to primary care to those struggling due to external factors.

To address that situation, a mobile health clinic will launch later this year to provide basic health care for those who cannot get their needs met elsewhere.

A partnership between Wright State and Premier Health will allow this mobile health unit to be set up outside of the Dayton Dream Center later this year. It will help under-served residents who still have primary care needs that need to be met — before they can take care of other medical conditions.

“When we think about marginalized patients, those that have had precarious housing, unhoused, the social determinant for health makes it impossible for people to navigate the health system,” said Anna Squibb with Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine. “I see this in the primary care side, the hospital side, in my substance use work.”…
