My take on John Dunbar’s column regarding Randy Dye and Jeff Brower is a little more straightforward than what John has implied.
First, while Brower collected more votes in the primary at 42%, the three other candidates’ combined vote, that did not support Brower, is 58%. I do not expect those who did not support Brower to have a change of heart in the general election. If the percentages hold up, Randy Dye will prevail. If voters learn more about Randy Dye, he will earn their vote.
Mr Brower simply has not demonstrated the leadership of a council chairman. That became very clear when he tried to get his ticket of three candidates elected on his “Brower Ticket” in 2022. That was a huge political mistake that alienated the rest of the council members that were in fact elected. He’s doing it again, even endorsing a registered Democrat candidate…
