DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The weekly food pantry at Seventh Day Baptist Church in Daytona Beach was shut down last fall, but after a nearly yearlong fight, Pastors Ben and Marcela Figueroa finally reopened their doors.
“It’s wonderful to see their faces shining when they come in,” said Ben Figueroa. “And knowing that we’re back on business and that the Lord gave us a victory.”
Daytona Beach attorney Chobe Ebbets took the case pro bono and said this came after a ban on church food pantries in the city’s redevelopment area. A settlement agreement has since been reached…
