DeKalb County to Host 41st Annual MLK Celebration with Dr. Jamal Bryant as Keynote Speaker

DeKalb County is gearing up for its 41st annual celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a day reflecting on the civil rights leader’s profound impact on freedom, justice, and democracy. Set in the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, the event, themed “Mission: Possible; Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365,” is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31, according to an announcement from DeKalb County’s news release.

As part of the celebration, Dr. Jamal Bryant, the pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, will deliver the King Day charge. With Dr. Bryant’s participation, a central figure in the religious community will address the assembly, framing the continued relevance of Dr. King’s teachings in today’s struggles for equality and justice.

In maintaining a tradition stretching over four decades, the DeKalb event has remained an employee-planned and community-focused tribute to Dr. King’s lasting legacy.
