It’s Halloween and more than 1.8 million Illinoisans have already voted

SPRINGFIELD (WGEM) – Election Day is five days away and more than 1.8 million Illinoisans have already cast their ballot according to the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE). With early voting continuing and voters returning mail-in ballots everyday, that number will grow before polls open Nov. 5.

“We are on pace to have a record number of ballots cast prior to Election Day in a non-pandemic year,” said ISBE Spokesperson Matt Dietrich.

Data from ISBE show more than 1.1 million Illinoisans had voted early as of Wednesday and nearly 700,000 had returned their mail-in ballot. There are still more than 500,000 outstanding mail-in ballots that have yet to be returned. Thursday is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot…
